Description	Human cytokeratins of molecular mass 40kD to 68kD are a family of water-insoluble proteins that form a major part of epithelial cells cytoskeleton. Immunohistochemical analysis of a large number of neoplasms has established keratin protein immunohistochemistry as an important aid for classification of epithelial neoplasms. Monoclonal antibodies AE1 and AE3 identifies the basic and acidic subfamilies of cytokeratin respectively, thus the combination of these two antibodies can be used to detect almost all human epithelia. These antibodies show no cross-reactivities with other cytoskeletal proteins.
