Proteinase K Solution (20 mg/mL)

Proteinase K is an endolytic protease that cleaves peptide bonds at the carboxylic sides of aliphatic, aromatic or hydrophobic amino acids with a relative molecular weight of 29.3 kDa.The smallest peptide to be hydrolyzed by this enzyme is a tetrapeptide .Proteinase K is widely used for the preparation of chromosomal DNA , and removal of DNases and RNases when isolating DNA and RNA from tissues or cell lines.Denaturants such as SDS (1%) can increase their activity.It is commonly used at working concentrations of 50-100 ?g/mL.
