The UPPL cell line ( Upk3a-CreERT2; Trp53L/L; PtenL/L; Rosa26LSL-Luc) is derived from C57BL/6 mouse bladder tumors that were induced through conditional knock out of Trp53 and Pten. Tumor cells were subsequently conditionally reprogrammed to develop UPPL cell line. UPPL cells display a similar expression profiles to luminal-like molecular subtype bladder cancers in humans, including expressing high levels of Pparg and Gata3. The tumors from which the cell line was derived were also found to be muscle invasive and appeared papillary in nature, similar to tumors that develop in the human subtype. Similarities between UPPL cell line and luminal-like molecular subtype bladder cancers in humans suggests that the line may be a useful model for use in drug studies related to the this disease.
