Description	The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the STAT protein family. In response to cytokines and growth factors, STAT family members are phosphorylated by the receptor associated kinases, and then form homo- or heterodimers that translocate to the cell nucleus where they act as transcription activators. This protein can be activated by various ligands including interferon-alpha, interferon-gamma, EGF, PDGF and IL6. This protein mediates the expression of a variety of genes, which is thought to be important for cell viability in response to different cell stimuli and pathogens. Two alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms have been described. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Description	Specificity: STAT1 (phospho-Tyr701) antibody detects endogenous levels of STAT1 only when phosphorylated at tyrosine 701.

Purity	The antibody was affinity-purified from rabbit antiserum by affinity-chromatography using epitope-specific phosphopeptide. The antibody against non-phosphopeptide was removed by chromatography using non-phosphopeptide corresponding to the phosphorylation site.
Storage	This product is stable for several weeks at 4°C as an undiluted liquid. Dilute only prior to immediate use. For extended storage, aliquot contents and freeze at -20°C or below. Avoid cycles of freezing and thawing. Expiration date is one (1) year from date of receipt.
