Specificity: This Polyclonal antibody is directed against human PI3Kγprotein. The product was purified from seurm by protein A chromatography. Expect reactivity with human PI3Kγ. Cross-reactivity with PI3Kγfrom other sources has not been determined.Relevance: Apoptosis is related to many diseases and is induced by a family of cell death receptors and their ligands. Cell death signals are transduced by death domain containing adapter molecules and members of the caspase family of proteases. The mammalian homologues of the key cell death gene CED-4 in C. elegans has been identified recently from human and mouse and designated Apaf-1 or apoptosis protease-activating factor 1. Cytosolic Apaf-1 forms an oligomeric complex with caspase-9 in the presence of cytochrome c and dATP, which leads to caspase-9 activation and subsequent activation of caspase-3. Oligomeric Apaf-1 and pro-caspase-9 bind to each other via their respective NH2-terminal CARD domains, consequently enhancing the catalytic activity of caspase-9 , leading to activation of the caspase signaling cascade and apoptosis.
