T cell receptor (TCR) is a heterodimer consisting of an alpha and a beta chain (TCR α/β) or a gamma and a delta chain (TCR γ/δ). TCR γ/δ belongs to the immunoglobulin superfamily, involved in the recognition of certain bacterial and tumor antigens bound to MHC class I. TCR γ/δ is expressed by a small subset of T cells in the thymus, peripheral lymphoid tissues, intestinal epithelium, and epidermis.
