The Anti-Melanoma Associated Antigen Antibody reacts against an antigen present in melanocytic tumors such as melanomas. It recognizes most of benign and malignant melanocytic proliferations, well-differentiated squamous carcinomas, and also reacts positively against junctional nevus cells. This antibody is used as an additional marker for melanoma, specifically in desmoplastic/spindle cell cases and in the context of micro-metastasis in sentinel lymph node.
