Description
Specificity: This Polyclonal antibody is directed against human β-Catenin protein. The product was purified from seurm by protein A chromatography. Expect reactivity with human β-Catenin. Cross-reactivity with β-Catenin from other sources has not been determined.Relevance: β-Catenin is a multifunctional protein known to be part of the Wnt pathway playing essential roles in development and carcinogenesis(1).It can act as a regulator of the cell cycle and apoptosis in a variety of different cell systems(2). The entire primary amino acid sequence is identical among human, rat, and mouse, indicating critical functions of this protein. Overexpression of β-catenin causes enlarged forebrains and cytoarchitectural distortions in mice.(3) The reported molecular weight for this protein ranges from 86-97 kDa.
