Anti-Cas9 Antibody is an antibody against Cas9, an essential RNA-guided DNA endonuclease observed originally in Streptococcus pyogene among other bacteria and archaea and a component of an adaptive microbial immune system that provides acquired immunity against foreign viruses and plasmids. Cas9 endonuclease is used to cleave double-stranded DNA directed by a short engineered guide-RNA (gRNA), leading to site-directed double strand breaks (DSB) in DNA submstrate. Thus, the CRISPR Cas9 system (clustered regularly interspaced short palindromic repeat CRISPR-associated protein 9) is the latest RNA-guided, endonuclease tool in genome editing which allows for very specific genomic disruption and replacement.
