Description
Specificity: This Polyclonal antibody is directed against human 58K Golgi protein(N-Term) protein. The product was purified from serum by protein A chromatography.Relevance: 58K Golgi protein antibodies are excellent for use as markers for the Golgi complex. The 58K Golgi protein has been identified as being FTCD, a bifunctional enzyme that channels 1-carbon units from formiminoglutamate, a metabolite of the histidine degradation pathway, to the folate pool. Defects in FTCD are the cause of glutamate formiminotransferase deficiency; also known as formiminoglutamicaciduria (FIGLU-uria). It is an autosomal recessive disorder. Features of a severe phenotype, include elevated levels of formiminoglutamate (FIGLU) in the urine in response to histidine administration, megaloblastic anemia, and mental retardation. Features of a mild phenotype include high urinary excretion of FIGLU in the absence of histidine administration, mild developmental delay, and no hematological abnormalities.

Description
Recommended dilutionsWB: 1/500~2000Predicted molecular weight: 59 kDa.Observed band size : 120 kDa(Why is the actual band size different from the predicted?Western blotting is a technique that separates proteins based on size - in general, the smaller the protein the faster it migrates through the gel. However, migration is also affected by other factors and so the actual band size observed may differ from that predicted.multimers - e.g. dimerisation of a protein. This is usually prevented in reducing conditions, although strong interactions can result in the appearance of higher bands.)Not yet tested in other applications., WB
