The clone HP6054 specifically binds with both soluble and membrane bound human lambda light chain of immunoglobulin but not binds with the kappa light chain or heavy chain. Lambda light chains are primarily expressed on the surface of B cells in lymphoid tissues. Each B cell expresses only one class of light chain kappa or lambda. In serum of a healthy individual, the total kappa to lambda ratio is approximately 3:1 while measuring as intact whole antibodies or 1:1.5 while measuring as free light chains. Various clinical research data claim that any highly divergent ratio of kappa to lambda indicative of neoplasm. HP6054 is useful in the identification of leukemias, plasmacytomas, and certain non-Hodgkin's lymphomas.
