The cytotoxic action of BPI is limited to many species of Gram-negative bacteria; this specificity may be explained by a strong affinity of the very basic N-terminal half for the negatively charged lipopolysaccharides that are unique to the Gram-negative bacterial outer envelope.
Specificity
Natural and recombinant Mouse Bactericidal permeability-increasing protein
Subcellular Location
Secreted Cytoplasmic granule membrane Membrane-associated in polymorphonuclear Leukocytes (PMN) granules.
Detection Range
78-5000pg/mL
Entryname
BPI_MOUSE
Linearity
The linearity of the kit was assayed by testing samples spiked with appropriate concentration of BPI and their serial dilutions. The results were demonstrated by the percentage of calculated concentration to the expected.
Intra-assay Precision (Precision within an assay):Three samples of known concentration were tested twenty times on one plate to assess intra-assay precision.
Intra-Assay CV: ≤4.7
Inter-assay Precision (Precision between assays):Three samples of known concentration were tested in five separate assays to assess inter-assay precision.
Inter-Assay CV: ≤7.2
Protein Name
Bactericidal permeability-increasing protein
Recovery
Recovery was determined by spiking various levels of BPI into serum and plasma .
