Description	High mobility group (HMG) proteins are non-histone DNA-binding proteins that induce alterations in the DNA architecture, including DNA bending and unwinding of the helix. Although HMG proteins may bind to single-stranded DNA, conformational changes are only induced in double-stranded DNA. HMG proteins synergize with Oct-2, members of the NFkB family, ATF-2, c-Jun and members of the steroid class of receptors to activate transcription.
